10 Questions to Ask Your Wedding DJ Before You Book — Answered by Rosé Weddings & Events

Booking a wedding DJ is one of the most impactful entertainment decisions you'll make — and one of the easiest to get wrong if you don't know what to ask. We've put together the 10 questions every couple should be asking, along with honest answers from our own team at Rosé Weddings & Events.

1. Will the DJ I meet be the one at my wedding?

At Rosé, yes. We don't bait-and-switch. You meet your DJ during the planning process, collaborate on your vision, and that same person shows up on your wedding day. Some companies book events and assign whoever is available. We don't operate that way.

2. What happens if the DJ gets sick or has an emergency?

We have a team of 10+ professional DJs across the Carolinas. In the rare event of an emergency, we have the network to source a qualified, vetted replacement who is fully briefed on your timeline and music preferences — and we handle all of that coordination, not you.

3. Do you bring backup equipment?

Always. Every Rosé setup includes a backup laptop loaded with your timeline and playlist, redundant speakers, and spare microphones. Equipment failures are rare, but the cost of not being prepared is too high.

4. How do you handle song requests from guests?

We take your lead. If you want an open request policy, we honor that within your genre preferences. If you'd prefer a curated experience with no interruptions, we protect that too. This is your wedding, not a club night — and we plan accordingly.

5. Are you also the MC, or do you bring someone separate?

Every Rosé DJ is a trained MC. We don't outsource the mic to a second person you've never met. Your DJ handles all announcements, introductions, and timeline cues — with the polished, warm presence that keeps your guests engaged without going overboard.

6. Do you coordinate with our venue and other vendors?

Yes — proactively. We connect with your venue coordinator and caterer before the event to align on load-in times, power access, noise ordinances, and the reception timeline. You shouldn't have to play middleman between your vendors.

7. What music planning tools do you offer?

We use an online planning portal where you can input must-plays, do-not-plays, timeline milestones, and special moments well in advance of your wedding. You can update it anytime, and your DJ reviews it thoroughly before your event.

8. Are you insured?

Absolutely. Rosé Weddings & Events carries full general liability insurance. Many venues in the Carolinas — especially in Charlotte, Asheville, and Greenville — require vendors to provide a certificate of insurance. We have it ready to send to your venue on request.

9. What areas do you serve?

We serve weddings and events across North and South Carolina, including Charlotte, Asheville, Greenville, Spartanburg, Columbia, Knoxville, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Atlanta. We are a Carolina-based company with a regional team — not a franchise that flies in strangers.

10. What makes Rosé different from other DJs in the Carolinas?

We're award-winning (Best Live DJ Performance 2022, Best of 2024 by Zola), we have 15+ years of combined experience, we offer a full suite of services under one roof — DJ, MC, photo booth, lighting, flower walls, saxophone fusion — and we treat every event as if it's the only one we have that night. Because it is.
