New Year's Eve Weddings: Fun and Practical but Don't Forget the Extra Planning

New Year's Eve is a popular time for couples to tie the knot and for good reason. The excitement and romance of the holiday season already adds a special touch to the big day and, practically speaking, many of your guests will already be home for the holidays and have the day off work, making it easier for them to attend. Plus, by helping them plan their New Year's Eve celebration, you'll be doing them a favor.

But, as with any wedding, it's important to remember that a New Year's Eve wedding requires a little extra planning to ensure it goes off without a hitch. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Book your venue and key suppliers as early as possible and be sure to read the small print for any additional fees for working on a holiday.

  2. Give your guests plenty of notice, as many may already be making holiday plans.

  3. Make sure your venue offers a late night bar extension and consider block booking accommodation at a nearby hotel or guesthouse for your out-of-town guests.

  4. If you'll have children at your wedding, consider hiring a babysitter or providing a separate room for them to watch movies or take a nap. And, for transportation, consider arranging for a cab company to be on standby or hiring a minibus to provide rides for guests who will be heading home after the wedding.

  5. Don't forget to create a special countdown to midnight to ring in the new year with your loved ones.
